Treatment of Vascular Nævi with Injection of 2% Sodium Morrhuate Froth.

چکیده
Injection treatment for varicose veins by means of various sclerosing solutions, quinine urethane, sodium salicylate, sodium morrhuate, etc., is now established therapeutically, and the same solutions may be used to set up a chemical or aseptic inflammation resulting in thrombosis and sclerosis in veins and other structures elsewhere. The main drawback to the use of these solutions in vascular naevi is that when used in the ordinary way, in the same strengths as advocated for treating varicose veins, there is a definite risk of ulceratioin and sloughing with the formation of an unsightly scar.

Delivery of sodium morrhuate to hemangioma endothelial cells using immunoliposomes conjugated with anti-VEGFR2/KDR antibody
Hemangioma is a common benign tumor affecting infants. In this study, we prepared sodium morrhuate immunoliposomes through encapsulation of sodium morrhuate with liposomes coupled with an anti-VEGFR2/KDR antibody and examined its effect on the biology of human hemangioma endothelial cells (HECs). It was found that compared to the liposomal sodium morrhuate group, treatment with sodium morrhuate...
متن کاملThe Treatment of Varicose Veins during Pregnancy. A Record of Fifty Cases Treated by the Injection of Sodium Morrhuate
It has taken long to dispel this idea concerning the treatment of varicose veins during pregnancy. As late as 1929, Douthwaite,2 an authority on the treatment of varicose veins, gives pregnancy as a contra-indication for injection treatment, and Maingot3 in his book published in 1932 likewise deprecates this mode of treatment. Neither author gives any valid reason for his contention. Levi4 woul...

PURPOSE To evaluate the outcome of sodium morrhuate 5% injections in patients with low flow vascular lesions, which consist of orbital lymphangiomas, and in one patient with intraosseous cavernous hemangioma. DESIGN Prospective, interventional consecutive case series. METHODS Intralesional sodium morrhuate 5% was injected under direct visualization or under radiographic guidance to six pati...
متن کاملComparison of Two Sclerosants for Esophageal Varices – Histologic Effects of Sodium Morrhuate and Liquid Paraffin
Background. Sclerotherapy of esophageal varices is still the most popular endoscopic method of treatment, espe− cially in children. Sclerosants, chemicals with strong tissue irritant properties, may be injected into the lumen of a dilated vessel or submucosally along the variceal column. Objectives. The aim of this study was to compare the usefulness and efficiency of two sclerosants – sodium m...
متن کاملSubtotal excision with adjunctive sclerosing therapy for the treatment of severe symptomatic orbital lymphangiomas.
Orbital lymphangiomas are congenital malformations with abnormal and dead-end lymphatic channels and present management challenges to ophthalmologists and orbital surgeons. Recurrent hemorrhage and expansion can lead to vision loss and disfigurement. We report our technique that uses adjunctive intraoperative injection of sodium morrhuate, 5%, under direct visualization into lymphangioma channe...
